WHEN DO WE GATHER
Sunday, July 20, 2025 between 9am and 10am.
The vehicle we ride on must be checked in between 9am. Marchers must be in position no later than 10:15am. Parade begins at 11:00am.
WHERE DO WE MEET
Meet at the south corner of NW Broadway and NW Everett, just south of the north park blocks. Look for Bowery Bagels.
GETTING THERE
Parking will be extremely limited. Transit or carpooling is highly recommended!

SECURITY
Security is a top priority for Portland Pride and this year is no different. While they are unable to share many specifics about the details of our security plan, they work closely with local law enforcement, emergency response folks, and private security for the event. They also engage local peacekeeping and de-escalation teams to help ensure that direct confrontation with community members is minimized and/or eliminated. Our community is most safe when we are together in large numbers, and work in collaboration to keep each other from harm.
PARADE ROUTE
The parade begins at 11am, one block to the east of our starting position. Route is marked below.
We will have a small pickup to decorate at 9am, and probably six grannies can ride in the bed during the parade. If you want to ride in the truck, please contact Gamble asap: 904-574-6241.
The parade takes about 30 minutes to walk from start to finish, but recognize that we will likely stop and dance along the route.
We end at the parking lot on the west side of Naito Parkway, directly before the Morrison Bridge. Traffic will be heavy so you’ll need to plan how to get back to your car, perhaps by carpooling with others.
WHAT TO WEAR
- Granny gear! Aprons, hats, white gloves, rainbow colors.
- WEAR COMFORTABLE WALKING SHOES.
WHAT TO BRING
- Water (with your name on the bottle!), sunscreen, light clothing layers, a joyful heart.
- BE PREPARED FOR WALKING OR SITTING IN THE SUN FOR THREE HOURS. Chairs you can carry are good. Cushions if you are riding in the truck are good.

MEDIA
If you are approached by media for a statement, please direct them to GAMBLE VELIMIROVIC, our spokesperson. If you’re comfortable being in photos, you can let media take them of you without involving Gamble.
PERFORMING DURING THE PARADE
This year we will do a marching dance. Everyone is welcome and you don’t have to do the dance exactly as you see it.

Dance Steps
ROADIES
Liz and Steph are organizing the roadies. If you know someone who might be interested, contact Liz at [email protected]
Grannies will be marching and dancing as a group at the front and the roadies will be their own group marching behind us.
The purpose of the roadies is to support the Grannies, so if there are things to be done, we can assign a small task (e.g. pulling a wagon of water for the Grannies if it’s hot) but mostly it’s about being inclusive. We have room for all “Grannies in training.”
