Information for Prospective Members

These are some of the most common things we are asked. If you still have questions, please feel free to contact us.

If you identify as a womxn and are over the age of 50, you are invited to join.  We recognize the importance of inclusion of people targeted by sexism and use the “x” to be inclusive of those who are not cisgender. We reject the idea that gender is a binary system and seek to honor and include two-spirit, trans, and nonbinary people.  This perspective is inspired by the Portland Womxn March organization.

No. Some of us have grandchildren, and others do not. But we do all care about the future of children and youth!

No. If you hear us, you’ll know we are not a singing group. We are not performers. We do use song, dance, and street theater in support of peace, social justice, human rights, and environmental protection. We do have many members who are singers, and their strong voices help our messages get heard.

First, contact us. Next, come to a meeting and introduce yourself. You will be assigned a mentor. After you attend two meetings, one action, and pay your dues, you’ll become a full member.

We wear those items to play with and appropriate the image of the stereotypical grandmother. The outrageous hats are used by members of Raging Granny gaggles (what we call a group) in the United States and internationally. It’s one the things that helps people recognize us in a crowd.

Our dues are $3 per month. We collect the dues once a year in July and prorate for those who join throughout the year. We offer scholarships for those for whom paying dues would be a hardship. We want all to rage with us! If you need a scholarship, speak privately to our treasurer when you join.
